Kidz 4 Education Programs
Read Across America
This 35 minute presentation uses books and a "Tigger" character (in front of the stage), along with the creative art form of puppetry, to introduce to children that reading can be fun. Through songs and narratives, the puppets present the following literacy concepts to the children:
READING:
- Is Fun
- Can take us to FARAWAY PLACES
- Allows us to use our imagination through FANTASY
- Can introduce us to a FRIEND
- Show us how we can make FOOLISH decisions or act FOOLISH
Throughout the entire puppet presentation, the puppets and "Tigger" are interacting with the audience and engaging them to read. The audience becomes involved in reading and goes away from the presentation with a love for reading. The upbeat songs have the children singing, clapping and reading along.
It is age appropriate for preschool, day care centers and early elementary.
THINK - "Before You Start"
This 35 minute educational program is suited for elementary through middle school age children. During the progression of the story, Sage, is persuaded by her peers to try a cigarette. She soon discovers that she is "addicted", which affects her ability to be the track athlete she wants to be.
Since the puppets portray a true story of a real character, the audience is engaged with the story. There are many visuals and theatrical aspects which bring the concept of anti-smoking alive to theaudience.
After presenting this creative and innovative approach to the audiences in the past, many parents come to us and share they wish have "heard" of this before they started to smoke.
Following the presentations, MANY handouts are given to the audience which are purchased through the American Lung Association.
